Biographical Information: Clifford was born on 11 June 1921 in Chesterfield, Derbyshire to Alfred and Matilda Battersby. The family lived in Dronfield Road, Eckington, Derbyshire. Clifford worked as a driver before joining the Navy in 1938. He was posted to Hood in the summer of 1939.

Clifford was 19 years old at the time of his loss. We have no additional information.
