Biographical Information: Douglas was born 17 May 1917 in Whitecroft, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. He was the eldest son of Thomas and Bertha Davies, of Bream, Gloucestershire. At age 14 he left school to work in a coal yard. He entered the Navy at age 16 and served on both H.M.S. Rodney and H.M.S. Nelson before he was appointed to H.M.S. Hood. He was 24 years old at the time of his loss. We have no additional information.
