Biographical Information: "Alan" as he was known, was born on 19 September 1920 in Wakefield, Yorkshire to Arthur and Margaret Heptonstall. The family later lived in Lupset, Yorkshire. He joined Hood at age 18 in 1938. He was 20 years old at the time of his loss. We have no additional information.
