Biographical Information: Frank was born on 16 June 1912 in Rugby, Warwickshire, the son of Mr & Mrs Walter Middleton. He joined the Navy at age 16 on 09 August 1928. He subsequently served in the following ships and establishments: H.M.S. Vincent (09 Aug 1928 - 13 July 1929), H.M.S. Marlborough (14 Jul 1929 - 07 May 1930), H.M.S. Queen Elizabeth (08 May 1930 - 06 Feb 1933), Victory 1 (07 Feb - 03 Nov 1933), H.M.S. Excellent (04 Nov 1933 - 11 May 1934), H.M.S. Courageous (12 May - 25 Mar 1936), Victory 1 (26 Mar 1936 - 04 Jan 1937), H.M.S. Suffolk (05 Jan 1937 - 12 Dec 1940), Victory (13 Dec 1940 - 07 Mar 1941) and lastly H.M.S. Hood (08 Mar 1941)..

He held the following ratings during his service Boy 2nd Class (from 09 Aug 1928), Boy 1st Class (from 04 May 1929), Ordinary Seaman (from 15 Dec 1929), Able Seaman (from 15 June 1931), Leading Seaman (from 21 March 1939) and Petty Officer (from 07 Aug 1940). He enjoyed life in the Navy and saw a lot of the world before the war. His character rating was always marked very good, his efficiency was always marked superior and he was awarded good conduct badges on 16 June 1933 and 16 June 1938.

He was 28 years old at the time of his loss. He left a wife Dorothy and a one year old son Ronald. We have no additional information.
