Biographical Information: Vernon was born on 05 May 1906 in Hambledon, Hampshire. He was one of three children born to Harriott Miles of Nyewood, West Sussex. Vernon is known to have served as a Petty Officer aboard H.M.S. Scorpion prior to serving in Hood. His awards include the 1939-45 Star Atlantic Star, 1939-45 War Medal and the KGVI Long Service & Good Conduct Medal.

He lived in a cottage that used to be on the grounds of Nyewood House, Dumpford Lane, Nyewood, West Sussex. He was 35 years old at the time of his loss. We have no additional information.
