Biographical Information: Ronnie, as he was known, was born on 08 August 1918 in Basford, Nottinghamshire. He was the only child of John and Fanny Neal. The family lived at 119 Harwill Crescent, Aspley Estate, Nottingham.

Ronnie was educated at William Crane School Nottingham and was also an old choir boy at Cinderhill Church of Christ. He worked for Durose and Payne accountants at their Talbot House location. He was also known to have been a scorer for the Notts Amateurs CC's "A" team.

He was called for service in the RNSR in December 1939 and is believed to have joined Hood sometime during 1940.He was 22 years old at the time of his loss. We have no additional information.
