Biographical Information: "Bernie", as he was known, was born in January 1925, to parents Thomas and Minnie Sammars, of Ringwood, Hampshire. He was the second eldest of seven children. H.M.S. Hood was his first ship.

Bernie was 16 years old at the time of his loss. We have no additional information.
